What is it like to be one-sixth a parent to 86 kids new to college?

Being a Residential Assistant in the Soto all-freshman dorm was one of the most pivotal experiences I’ve had in college. From late-night (sometimes all-night) conversations to baking bread in the kitchenette to the first time I took a resident to the Counseling & Psychological Services to problem-solving with my five other co-staff, my experiences have taught me endlessly about assuming best intent, the importance of laughter, being confident in my decisions, and always listening. I feel very lucky that I got to have this experience. The 91 new friends are a huge bonus, too.
